The Maintenance Repair & Operations Purchasing Manager is a pivotal role within Worthington Steel, responsible for overseeing the procurement of non-steel related purchases. This includes managing the acquisition of packaging, printing, company services, capital projects and equipment, as well as maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) parts. The individual in this position will be tasked with identifying opportunities to enhance execution and value creation in the procurement process, while also focusing on reducing administrative and transactional costs and improving overall quality. To succeed in this role, the Maintenance Repair & Operations Purchasing Manager must possess strong communication skills and a strategic mindset, with a knack for process design and redesign. Building and maintaining robust relationships across all levels of the organization and with suppliers is essential. The manager will supervise non-steel related purchasing resources, set strategies and priorities aligned with the overall purchasing objectives, and manage the delegation of work and projects within the indirect sourcing group. The role also involves supervising all maintenance, repair, and operations purchases, seeking opportunities to consolidate needs across multiple facilities into leveraged sourcing events. The manager will ensure timely fulfillment of purchasing needs for the Maintenance and Tool Room departments, coordinate strategic sourcing activities, and manage the purchase process for capital expenditures, including the development of negotiation strategies and key performance indicators (KPIs) for success. Additionally, the manager will oversee service contracts and special projects, which includes defining internal customer requirements, selecting contractors, managing the RFx process, and negotiating contracts.
