About the position

Bowhead is seeking a Maintenance & Repair Worker, General III to join our team in Dahlgren, VA, in support of our NSWC Dahlgren Facilities Maintenance Support contract. This position is crucial for the general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings within the facility. The Maintenance & Repair Worker, General III will be responsible for a variety of tasks that require advanced skills and knowledge in multiple trades, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The role demands a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively while keeping the Supervisor informed of any unique situations or problems encountered during the work process. The Maintenance & Repair Worker will engage in a range of responsibilities, from replacing electrical receptacle covers and switches to patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. The worker will also be involved in repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, toilets, and painting structures and equipment. Additional tasks include replacing damaged sheet rock, paneling, floor tiles, and ceiling tiles, as well as hanging doors and installing door locks. The role may also require replacing broken window panes and performing general maintenance on various equipment or machinery. The worker will be expected to install or repair a variety of electrical equipment, and the work will often involve planning and layout based on blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions. Collaboration with other crafts and trades personnel will be necessary to ensure smooth daily operations, and all work must comply with established plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Replace electrical receptacle covers and switches.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets, and paint structures and equipment.
  • Replace damaged sheet rock, paneling, floor tiles, and ceiling tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken window panes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment or machinery.
  • Install or repair various electrical equipment, plumbing, and masonry.
  • Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Assist other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in Operations and Maintenance services supporting a military base or civilian installation.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in construction renovation or related activities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of successful related experience in a military or civilian workforce preferred.
  • Emergency Management/Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) experience preferred.
  • Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
