About the position
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing routine maintenance tasks and general housekeeping of refrigeration systems within the facility. This role includes conducting inspections, managing maintenance personnel, ensuring safe operations, and participating in emergency response efforts. The supervisor will also train employees on safety and compliance topics, manage facility projects, and supervise contractors.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of refrigeration equipment and maintain records for compressors, evaporators, and receivers.
- Substitute as chief engineer when necessary.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of refrigeration systems and material handling equipment.
- Train and manage daily tasks of maintenance personnel.
- Schedule and manage facility projects.
- Train employees in safety and regulatory compliance topics.
- Be on call 24/7/365 for emergencies.
- Participate on an Emergency Response Team.
- Supervise contractors and approve contractor bills for payment.
Requirements
- High School Degree preferred.
- Mechanical skills in maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Ability to perform safe shut downs of refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 70 lbs with assistance occasionally.
- Good arithmetic and reading skills.
