About the position

The Maintenance Supervisor at Brookdale Senior Living is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the community's buildings and grounds. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining a safe and functional living environment for residents. The supervisor will lead a team, manage maintenance requests, and ensure that all facilities are well-maintained and operational.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the general operating maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds.
  • Supervises scheduled maintenance on H.V.A.C., elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Responds to maintenance requests by residents for items needing repair in their rooms.
  • Supervises repairs and maintains vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  • Ensures walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas are properly maintained.
  • Assists in the training of maintenance staff.
  • Maintains positive communication with local fire Marshall, building inspector, and other governing jurisdictions.
  • Conducts in-service fire safety training for all employees.
  • Repairs walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in common areas.
  • Assesses plumbing and electrical problems and determines the best course of action to correct them.
  • Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and takes necessary precautions.
  • Assesses property damage and files property damage claims according to company policy.
  • May directly supervise maintenance technicians and building engineers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid State Driver's License required for vehicle travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role within maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
