About the position

The Maintenance Supervisor I is responsible for leading skilled technical personnel in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery, tooling, equipment, and building services. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and compliance with OSHA and company standards while ensuring minimal machine downtime and effective management of maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure labor is managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and training to personnel as needed.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities according to production requirements to minimize machine downtime.
  • Implement and maintain work orders, ensuring appropriate reporting and feedback is supplied to initiators.
  • Develop and implement schedules and procedures for equipment repairs and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Meet with Operations to review production downtime and assist in coordination of efforts to minimize problems.
  • Ensure availability of items in the tool crib and timely submission of orders for replacement parts.
  • Maintain 6S standards within the maintenance/tooling department, tool crib, and work areas.
  • Direct and allocate overtime hours as required to support production activities.
  • Assist in associate performance reviews and discussions.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and provide training as required.
  • Participate in and perform Layered Process Audits (LPA) as planned.
  • Maintain housekeeping and health & safety standards.
  • Comply with facility or divisional standards such as TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Utilize continuous improvement concepts including Lean.
  • Perform other duties as specified and cover plant-wide operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four-year College or University Degree/Technical degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the automotive industry.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Technical ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.
  • Experience in various basic operations disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process/Tooling, and Shop Floor Supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Familiarity with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
