About the position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the plant, ensuring safety and compliance with environmental and quality standards. This role involves leading work crews in executing preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, managing resources, and coordinating maintenance schedules. The supervisor also plays a critical role in emergency situations and is tasked with maintaining equipment reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety and Environmental Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Plant Quality Standards.
  • Conduct equipment PM/PdM's and services.
  • Manage non-routine repairs and planned Maintenance Work Orders (MWO's).
  • Monitor and control maintenance labor costs including overtime and productivity.
  • Monitor and control maintenance material and supply costs.
  • Assign work to crewmembers and ensure quality of work.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned work.
  • Arrange crew vacations and manage timekeeping and disciplinary actions.
  • Approve and coordinate overtime for maintenance staff.
  • Validate PM/PdM work and service worksheets.
  • Enter and close Work Orders in the system.
  • Maintain safety records and order necessary parts and supplies.
  • Provide safety training and new equipment orientation.
  • Coach and encourage crewmembers to enhance performance.
  • Understand and enforce the Collective Bargaining Agreement fairly.
  • Assist in the development of yearly budgets.
  • Promote a motivating work environment and recognize opportunities for enhancements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • 5-plus years as a Maintenance Technician or similar background.
  • 2-4 years of Lead-person experience or Maintenance crew supervisory experience.
  • Background in heavy industry, chemical or mining maintenance management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or B.S. in electrical/mechanical field.
  • 5-plus years as a Maintenance Technician or similar background with 2-4 years department Supervisory experience.
