About the position
As a Maintenance Support at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and homelike environment for individuals in our community programs. Duties include all elements of household maintenance, including patching, painting, plumbing, appliance repair, carpentry, tiling, electric and general HVAC, as well as snow removal and grounds work as needed. The Maintenance Support will be required to remain on-call (rotating) for emergencies, complete assigned jobs within a reasonable amount of time, assist others in performing various duties, and maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition. This position will perform maintenance services for our group homes located throughout Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, and Westchester counties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and homelike environment for individuals in community programs.
- Perform household maintenance tasks including patching, painting, plumbing, appliance repair, carpentry, tiling, electric, and general HVAC.
- Conduct snow removal and grounds work as needed.
- Remain on-call for emergencies on a rotating basis.
- Complete assigned jobs within a reasonable amount of time.
- Assist others in performing various duties.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required (waived with five years of experience in building maintenance in an institutional setting).
- One year of maintenance experience required.
- Some knowledge in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing required.
- Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical or controlled substances.
- Ability to perform significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 70 lbs or more.
