About the position

Granite Summit is seeking a dedicated Facilities/Maintenance Team Member to join our team in maintaining our beautiful site located in Running Springs, CA. This position is essential to ensuring that our summer camp, outdoor education facility, and retreat center operates smoothly and safely for our guests year-round. The Facilities/Maintenance Team Member will report directly to the Facilities Operations Director and/or Site Manager and will be responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks that are crucial to the upkeep of the facility. The role involves general maintenance duties such as painting, fixing toilets, carpentry, landscaping, and operating power tools and heavy machinery. Given that Pali Mountain operates 365 days a year, including during inclement weather, the Facilities/Maintenance Team Member will also assist with snow removal and weed abatement as needed. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, as duties may vary based on program needs and unexpected issues that arise. Safety is paramount, especially since maintenance work may occur while guests are on-site. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have prior experience in a trade or general maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess reliable transportation, be self-motivated, and have a customer-focused mindset. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, navigate three flights of stairs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. The role also requires the use of hand tools and power tools, as well as a strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor tasks such as carrying, stacking, and sorting materials used in and around various job sites.
  • Respond to all maintenance duties and requests as instructed or assigned.
  • Assist contractors, such as electricians and painters, as required.
  • Use employer supplied vehicles for travel to pick up supplies and parts as needed.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Remove debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.
  • Assemble and break down barricades, temporary structures, and scaffolding.
  • Assist with transport and operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Dig holes, tunnels, and shafts as needed.
  • Assist with mixing, pouring, and leveling concrete.
  • Patch paint, change out lights, locks, and perform basic plumbing tasks.
  • Clean up job site and equipment using various cleaning devices or equipment.
  • Clear drains using a plunger and hand-held auger.
  • Change light bulbs and HVAC filters.
  • Ensure on-site and off-site housing service requests are responded to promptly and professionally.
  • Comply with all company practices and applicable health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds to ensure safety and cleanliness, alerting the Site Manager to items that need repair or replacement.
  • Participate in diagnosing problems and repairs in areas of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, swimming pool, carpentry, drywall, and various appliances.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.
  • Experience in a trade and general maintenance is required.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and solution-oriented.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs and perform tasks such as walking up three flights of stairs, bending, kneeling, stooping, and squatting.
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and use hand tools and power tools effectively.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team.

Nice-to-haves
