About the position

The Building Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Volunteers of America (VOA) facilities, ensuring that buildings, equipment, and grounds are safe and well-maintained. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks, supervising volunteers, and ensuring compliance with safety and health standards. The technician will also assist in monitoring service requests and preventive maintenance schedules, while maintaining exceptional curb appeal for the facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on affordable housing facilities equipment and grounds.
  • Identify and address safety-related issues that present a possible hazard to clients, employees, facilities, or the public.
  • Assist in monitoring apartment make-ready schedules to ensure timely rent-ready units.
  • Monitor service requests to ensure 24-hour completion.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner that complies with agency standards.
  • Attend meetings and staff development activities as assigned, utilizing a teamwork orientation.
  • Maintain proper work order procedures and related documentation according to Volunteers of America guidelines.
  • Maintain exceptional building and grounds curb appeal.
  • Carry out after-hours, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage as scheduled.
  • Act as a mentor to Maintenance Technician I.
  • Inventory building supplies.
  • Maintain predictable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • One year of previous maintenance technician experience.
  • Knowledge of all hand and power tools and their uses.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License, insurance verification, and good driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relations with residents and employees.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in building maintenance or a trade school certificate.
  • CFC certifications desired.
  • CAMT certification desired.
