About the position

The Facilities Mechanic I position at QVC is designed to perform essential maintenance tasks and repairs within the fulfillment center. This role involves working on various systems including conveyors, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), and general building maintenance. A fundamental understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is required, along with familiarity with AC/DC systems and the ability to effectively use a voltmeter. The position entails carrying out general tenant improvement work, which includes light repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, walls, and room finishes, as well as managing small repairs and projects independently. Additionally, the Facilities Mechanic I will assist other Facilities Mechanics with more complex maintenance duties, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for building maintenance, which includes performing and facilitating general facility repairs such as plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, HVAC, and wall repair. You will also be tasked with performing repairs on dock doors, dock locks, and dock plates to ensure their successful operation. The position requires escorting and assisting outside vendors as needed, as well as performing planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance on production-related equipment and building systems. Identifying and correcting safety hazards and potential maintenance issues before they escalate is a critical part of this role. The Facilities Mechanic I will support and perform repairs on conveyor, automation, and sorter systems, addressing production-related issues and consulting with team leaders to maximize equipment throughput. Problem-solving skills are essential, as you will need to detect potential problems and inform team leaders to ensure timely resolutions to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment issues. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, is also expected. Safety and facility cleanliness are paramount, and you will be expected to practice and lead in 5S and safety procedures to maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic tasks and repairs within the fulfillment center including work on conveyors and PIT equipment.

  • Perform repairs on dock doors, dock locks, and dock plates to ensure successful operation.
  • Escort and assist outside vendors as needed.
  • Perform planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance to production-related equipment and building equipment.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent; Industrial mechanic trade school courses or certification (i.e., electrical, controls, plumbing, welding, etc.) or equivalent military technical training.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 3 years' experience with mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple tasks.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of voltage meter and AC/DC systems.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves
