The Facilities Mechanic I position at QVC is designed to perform essential maintenance tasks and repairs within the fulfillment center. This role involves working on various systems including conveyors, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), and general building maintenance. A fundamental understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is required, along with familiarity with AC/DC systems and the ability to utilize a volt meter. The position also entails conducting general tenant improvement work, which includes light repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, walls, and room finishes, as well as managing small repairs and projects independently. Additionally, the Facilities Mechanic I will assist other Facilities Mechanics with more complex maintenance duties and participate in 5S organization and cleaning activities as necessary. In terms of responsibilities, the role encompasses building maintenance, where the technician will perform and facilitate general facility repairs such as plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, HVAC, and wall repair. The technician will also be responsible for performing repairs on dock doors, dock locks, and dock plates to ensure their successful operation, as well as escorting and assisting outside vendors when needed. Equipment maintenance is another critical aspect of the job, which includes performing planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance on production-related equipment, PITs, and building equipment. The technician will be expected to identify and rectify safety hazards and potential maintenance issues before they escalate into critical problems, and assist with repairs during unscheduled breakdowns. The role also involves supporting and performing planned and unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance on conveyor and sorter systems to maintain their operation. The technician will address production-related issues and consult with team leaders to ensure necessary corrections are made to maximize equipment throughput. Problem-solving is a key component of the job, as the technician must detect and inform team leaders of potential problems related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment issues before they impact facility operations. Continuous improvement is encouraged, with participation in team activities around Kaizen events and other initiatives, as well as supporting the design and implementation of continuous improvement processes, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities. Safety and facility cleanliness are paramount, and the technician is expected to practice and lead in 5S and safety procedures to maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area. This includes maintaining a complete inventory and cleaning of all equipment and work areas daily, and understanding and complying with all safety and environmental regulations, company policies, and procedures. The technician must identify and act immediately to correct any safety hazards or spills to avoid accidents and escalate issues as necessary.
