About the position

As a Maintenance Technician II at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Operations Maintenance team by repairing and maintaining material handling equipment (MHE) and pneumatic systems throughout the facility. This position is integral to ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of Amazon's logistics and distribution network. You will have the opportunity to install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, which is vital for meeting the demands of our customers worldwide. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also have the chance to mentor junior technicians, helping them to develop their skills and grow in their roles within the company. The Maintenance team at Amazon is known for its commitment to safety and continuous improvement. You will be expected to promote a safe working environment by adhering to all safety procedures and completing preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation. Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems related to MHE, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, and relays, will be a key part of your daily tasks. You will also maintain positive working relationships across the Amazon Operations facility, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with your colleagues. This role requires physical stamina, as you will need to move up to 49 lbs and stand or walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours. Flexibility in your schedule is essential, as you may be required to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Additionally, there is a travel requirement of 50% or more pre-launch to complete various building launch and training tasks. Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all of the Amazon Operations facility
  • Track and store department inventory
  • Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Travel 50% or more pre-launch to complete various building launch and training tasks

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
  • 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment
  • 2+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
  • 1+ years of metal and wood fabrication
  • 1+ years of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
  • 1+ year of knowledge with electrical and electronic principles
  • 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Safety standards
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance
  • Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
