About the position

The Maintenance Technician II at Silfab Solar is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on production equipment, collaborating with senior technicians on electrical and mechanical projects. This role is crucial in ensuring the operational efficiency of manufacturing processes while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on all production equipment as required.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians during equipment repairs and learn safe work practices.
  • Complete small electrical and mechanical projects as directed by Team Lead/Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and comply with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend safety improvements.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and interact with all production areas.
  • Repair and replace electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic components under supervision.
  • Diagnose faults in electrical equipment or systems, including complex interlocking circuits.
  • Examine, install, replace, and repair electronic wiring and other electrical components.
  • Maintain production equipment to maximize performance and assist with spare parts inventory.
  • Perform equipment repairs to restore safe working conditions under supervision.
  • Install, set up, modify, and relocate equipment to improve production requirements.
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics and diagrams.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Ensure production schedules are maintained and report changes in electric circuits to Team Lead/Supervisor.
  • Follow LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedures on unsafe machines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical equipment, PLC systems, and robotics.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Theoretical knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs, including Siemens Step 7 and Beckhoff TwinCat.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an asset.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 2 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • A certificate from a technical trade school or military experience in a related field.
