About the position

The Maintenance Technician - Utility position at Sabre Industries involves performing highly skilled technical work related to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment. The role is essential for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant operations, contributing to the company's mission of connecting and powering communities with utility solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities.
  • Diagnose, test, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble plant equipment components such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic shear, vacuum equipment, roller leveler, cranes, and electrical boards.
  • Troubleshoot and service pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Replace and/or adjust mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
  • Repair worn parts and fabricate fixtures using welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications.
  • Assist junior personnel and operators in the proper direction of equipment repairs.
  • Record labor and material used on each repair made.
  • Use test equipment properly and take care of it.
  • Operate lift equipment such as cranes, booms, manlifts, and cherry pickers.
  • Communicate effectively regarding job-related matters.
  • Handle production coverage during irregular hours with little or no supervision.
  • Report all abnormal conditions and safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Perform housekeeping and other routine tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • At least three years of electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of basic shop mathematics including addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural schematics.
  • Ability to convert inches to metric.
  • Ability to use gauging equipment such as dial indicators, micrometers, and feeler gauges.
