About the position

The position involves performing major, minor, and general repairs on buildings, ensuring facility upkeep to maintain a clean and safe environment. Responsibilities include conducting predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment such as loaders, forklifts, cranes, and compressors. The role also requires handling minor electrical, HVAC, and plumbing repairs on buildings and equipment, tracking maintenance activities and metrics, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Cost management is crucial, as the goal is to minimize deferred maintenance costs and reduce reliance on third-party vendors. The candidate will also be responsible for installing new equipment, understanding technical manuals, reading blueprints, and purchasing necessary replacement parts. The position demands technical skills, delegation abilities, attention to detail, and effective documentation of maintenance issues using computer skills (CMMS). Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential, along with resourcefulness and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform major, minor, and general repairs on buildings and facility upkeep.
  • Conduct predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Handle minor electrical, HVAC, and plumbing repairs on buildings and equipment.
  • Track maintenance activities and metrics, including PM metrics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Minimize deferred maintenance costs and reduce reliance on third-party vendors.
  • Install new equipment, understand technical manuals, and read blueprints.
  • Leverage technology, delegate tasks, and apply common sense.
  • Document, report, and track maintenance issues accurately using computer skills (CMMS).
  • Solve complex problems quickly, control costs, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Be resourceful and willing to help wherever needed.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical fields, or equivalent formal training and hands-on experience.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Own tools preferred.
  • Ability to work on hard surfaces for up to 12 hours in varying temperatures.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity.
  • Physical capability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and recognize tasks without direct assignment.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours, including one weekend day per month for preventative maintenance.
  • Familiarity and experience with a CMMS software system.
