About the position

The Maintenance Technician position in Fayetteville, GA is responsible for the repair and maintenance of roads, drainage systems, and water collection/distribution systems. The role involves operating both light and heavy construction equipment, performing ground and building maintenance, and responding to emergency situations. The technician will also be involved in various maintenance duties, ensuring the safety and functionality of city infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain roads, drainage systems, and water collection/distribution systems.
• Operate light and heavy construction equipment, including lawn mowers, backhoes, and dump trucks.
• Perform ground maintenance and building maintenance duties such as minor carpentry and painting.
• Respond to customer complaints and participate in emergency calls.
• Perform safety checks on equipment and ensure vehicle maintenance and cleaning is completed.
• Conduct concrete and asphalt work, maintain storm drains, and clean buildings.
• Pick up trash, clean shop and vehicles, and remove dead animals from roads.
• Work city events such as parades and races, including set-up and tear-down activities.
• Maintain right-of-ways, sidewalks, and city parks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Some experience or training in plumbing, heavy equipment operation, and/or mechanical repair preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver's license (Class C) required.
• Must obtain a State of Georgia Department of Transportation Flagging Certificate.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in plumbing or mechanical repair.
• Training in heavy equipment operation.
