About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Avient Corporation is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant, focusing on maintaining the physical assets of the property. This role involves a variety of general building maintenance tasks, site services, and manufacturing equipment repairs, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in safe workplace practices and communicate equipment-based safety issues to supervisors.
  • Follow environmental guidelines and report any hazards to the appropriate parties.
  • Support the company's vision, mission, and guiding principles.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical devices and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls including PLCs, motors, and variable speed drives.
  • Install, repair, and modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
  • Operate forklifts and hydraulic working platforms as required.
  • Set up and operate shop machinery such as lathes, drill presses, and welders.
  • Fabricate basic metal equipment using welding and other methods.
  • Complete assigned maintenance work to established standards in a timely manner.
  • Document all maintenance tasks accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (eMaint).
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks to limit equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance inventory and participate in cycle counts.
  • Research and notify supervisors of needed equipment, tools, and parts.
  • Learn new maintenance functions as necessary.
  • Promote good housekeeping practices in maintenance areas.
  • Communicate effectively with production and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or Licensed Journeyman preferred.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting control systems and mechanical devices.
  • Experience in industrial electrical design, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, and forklift repair is preferred.
  • Competent PC skills, including MS Office and Windows.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or equivalent experience.
