About the position

Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) - Local is a hard services-led, tailored facility management solution that focuses on empowering its team with a high level of downstream accountability, resulting in agile and efficient service delivery. The Maintenance Technician position involves performing general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds. Working under close supervision, the technician assists in supervising building system operations and performance, utilizing several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This role is essential in ensuring that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards, contributing to the overall functionality and safety of the workplace. The technician will follow all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and work safety. Responsibilities include performing assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency maintenance, and preventive maintenance, as well as completing maintenance and repair records as required. The technician will review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed for repairs, and assist with the installation and modification of building equipment systems. Additionally, the technician will inspect new installations for compliance with building codes and safety laws, maintain lighting systems, and perform various tasks related to grounds maintenance, such as raking, sweeping, and snow removal. The role also requires responding quickly to emergencies and summoning additional assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs and emergency and preventive maintenance.
  • Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Reviews assigned work orders and estimates time and materials needed to complete repair orders.
  • Assists with the installation and modification of building equipment systems.
  • Assists with solving and repairing buildings and installed systems, including plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
  • Inspects new installations for compliance with building codes and safety laws.
  • Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
  • Maintains grounds of facility or property performing tasks such as raking, sweeping, leaf blowing, or snow removal.
  • Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.
  • Responds quickly to emergencies, summoning additional assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook and personal computer/PDA for work order system, email, and training.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
