About the position

The Maintenance Technician 2 position at the City of Winchester involves a variety of responsibilities focused on the maintenance and operation of parking authority equipment. The technician will lead efforts in regularly emptying pay stations and ensuring they are stocked with tickets and receipt paper. This includes using alcohol cards for cleaning, replacing ink, and changing light bulbs in the equipment. The technician is also responsible for ensuring that batteries in flashlights are functional and that the time and date settings on the equipment are accurate. Regular cleaning of machines with an air compressor is also part of the role, ensuring that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition. In addition to equipment maintenance, the technician will lead the inventory management of Autopark lights and will be responsible for testing emergency and exit lights, replacing bulbs or batteries as necessary. Customer service is a key component of this role, as the technician will be required to answer calls during their shift to assist customers with parking-related inquiries. The technician will also be on call during nights and weekends, rotating this responsibility with other staff members approximately every four to six weeks. The role includes the collection of monthly rental payments from drop boxes on a daily basis and may involve meter enforcement duties. This includes writing tickets for parking violations using a portable hand-held parking ticket writer/printer, patrolling parking areas on foot, and collecting meter money and fines from meter boxes. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic position that requires adaptability and a proactive approach to maintenance and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on emptying pay stations regularly and provides maintenance on supplying tickets, receipt paper, using alcohol cards, replace ink, changing light bulbs in equipment, batteries in flashlights are working, ensures time and date accuracy of equipment, cleans machines with air compressor as needed
  • Lead on replacing lights and responsible for Autopark light inventory sheet
  • Lead on testing emergency/exit lights and replaces light bulbs or batteries as needed
  • Responsible for answering calls during shift to assist customers on parking lanes and responds
  • Responsible for taking phone and being on call nights/weekends, rotating with various staff for one week every 4 - 6 weeks
  • Responsible for collecting monthly rental payments from drop boxes daily
  • Meter enforcement, when needed, which includes writing tickets for parking violations using a portable hand-held parking ticket writer/printer, patrolling on foot to monitor parking areas, and collecting meter money/fines from meter boxes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required with three years related experience performing similar work
  • Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license and a valid commercial drivers license
