About the position

The Maintenance Technician 3 (MT3) at Target is a key technical subject matter expert responsible for ensuring high equipment availability rates within the Supply Chain Facility. This role involves preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and collaborating with other technicians to optimize material handling equipment. The MT3 will also act as a technical trainer, sharing knowledge with peers and enhancing their skills. The position requires a strong understanding of system controls logic and troubleshooting techniques, as well as the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including conveyors, sortation, robotics, or Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
• Control and adjust positioning accuracy and timing of equipment.
• Control and adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators.
• Repair or replace adjustable components and wearing components of equipment.
• Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment as needed.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs and components, including field buses and communications modules.
• Conduct maintenance and higher-level troubleshooting of various robot types.
• Troubleshoot power distribution systems and wiring methods up to 480V.
• Utilize handheld devices and asset management systems to create and close Work Orders.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential hazards.
• Operate Target-owned vehicles for maintenance activities and procure parts as needed.
• Navigate ladders and gangways safely and work off platforms at significant heights.
• Monitor worksite conditions and lift/move items up to 49 pounds.

Requirements

• Possess or ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
• Excellent PC competency and ability to use mobile apps on handheld devices.
• Familiarity with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring.
• Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Experience in industrial electrical, controls, and electronics.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs and National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Degree from a technical or community college, or accredited industrial maintenance certifications (PLCs, Industrial Networks, Machine Logic, Robotics).
• 4+ years of experience in the Mechanical or Electrical maintenance field.
