About the position

The Maintenance Technician position at AKG of America involves responding to maintenance requests and performing repair duties for both the plant and office. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of various systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility maintenance. The technician will work on a variety of tasks, from troubleshooting electrical circuits to performing carpentry and plumbing repairs, while adhering to safety and environmental management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests and perform repair duties for the plant and office.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 3 phase, single phase, and DC electrical circuits.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, equipment, and electrical installations.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and facility support.
  • Repair electrical malfunctions and install/relocate equipment as needed.
  • Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, air, and sewer systems.
  • Alter, repair, and maintain buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, and other structures.
  • Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment.
  • Document and update the Supervisor with the statuses of assignments.
  • Attend daily meetings with the Supervisor to discuss and prioritize work orders and projects.
  • Respond to unplanned maintenance requests from employees throughout the plant and office.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of plant and machine operations.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth in AKG's environmental management system.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal trade school program with equipment maintenance concentration, apprenticeship program, and/or on-the-job training.
  • Minimum 1 year of prior experience in general repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, and air conditioning.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed blueprint instructions.
  • Ability to use and understand measuring tools.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to determine how repairs need to be made.
  • Great attention to detail and ability to work cautiously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with air conditioning system repairs.
  • Familiarity with fabrication techniques for altering engineering drawings.
