About the position

The Maintenance Technician position at Inland Real Estate Group involves maintaining the physical integrity of apartment communities in Berwyn and Wilmington, IL. This full-time role requires a professional and friendly individual to ensure a safe and secure living environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The technician will be responsible for general repairs, emergency maintenance, and upkeep of the properties, while also addressing resident service requests in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Address resident service and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with residents on any pending items or the status of service requests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Keep the physical property throughout the community and immediately correct unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding preventive maintenance, service requests, expenditures, apartment make-ready status, work in progress, etc.
  • Ensure all make-ready repairs and services are completed on schedule.
  • Rake, sweep, shovel, and salt property grounds as circumstances warrant.
  • Change locks and keys.
  • Perform general repairs to the apartments and common areas of the buildings and grounds.
  • Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
  • Remove trash and perform cleaning duties as needed.
  • Order maintenance equipment and accept deliveries.
  • Move furniture and/or appliances as required.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in property maintenance or equivalent maintenance-related fieldwork.
  • Ability to interact professionally and efficiently with prospects, residents, staff, and management.
  • Hands-on experience within basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems, landscaping, and cleaning.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Furnish own tools and have transportation to pick up replacement parts and supplies from vendors.
  • HVAC/EPA certification preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, walk between buildings and on roofs, stoop, kneel, and bend.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with heat pump systems.
  • Fair Housing certification.
