About the position

The Maintenance Technician/Groundskeeper position in Fresno, CA, is a full-time role that requires the efficient performance of general apartment and commercial maintenance tasks. The primary goal is to preserve and maintain the assets while providing a quality living environment for tenants. The technician will work closely with the community staff to establish a positive and productive working relationship. This role involves completing service requests assigned by the Property Manager without assistance, ensuring that all tasks are performed to a high standard and within the established timelines. Key responsibilities include proficiency in various maintenance areas such as basic plumbing, which involves fixing leaky faucets, plunging toilets, and repairing tank contents. The technician will also be responsible for touch-up painting, basic appliance repairs, and electrical work, including testing circuit breakers and replacing switches and bulbs. Additionally, the role requires skills in lock replacements, screen and door repairs, and carpentry tasks such as re-hanging closet rods and fixing drawer tracks. The technician will also assist in major appliance installations and perform elementary drywall repairs. The position demands a commitment to customer satisfaction, with a focus on preparing market-ready products and adhering to company guidelines for service requests. The technician must demonstrate strong communication skills, teamwork, and technical ability while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. The role may require on-call availability and working weekends as needed, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively to meet community occupancy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Complete service requests assigned by the Property Manager unassisted.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaky faucets and plunging toilets.
  • Conduct touch-up painting and basic appliance repairs.
  • Handle electrical tasks including switches, plugs, and circuit breaker testing.
  • Replace and adjust locks, and repair screens and doors.
  • Assist in major appliance installations and detailing turnover units.
  • Perform carpentry tasks such as re-hanging closet rods and fixing drawer tracks.
  • Complete elementary drywall repairs and patching.
  • Satisfactorily complete all turnover punch list items.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of direct experience in apartment maintenance or three or more years in related fields.
  • Proficiency in plumbing, electricity, painting, drywall, floor coverings, carpentry, locks, appliances, pools & spas, roofs, and life safety equipment.
  • Experience in HVAC, maintenance, plumbing, and electrical work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in HVAC (1 year preferred).
