About the position
The Maintenance Technician I position at Builders FirstSource is an entry-level role focused on maintaining and servicing the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. Under direct supervision, the technician will diagnose and repair mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure the safety and reliability of vehicles. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to quality workmanship, contributing to the overall efficiency of the company's operations.
Responsibilities
- Complete preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including trucks and vans.
- Conduct oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergencies promptly, performing on-site repairs as needed.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety and emissions standards.
- Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of related experience in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
