About the position

The Industrial Maintenance Technician I (IMT I) at Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is responsible for maintaining production equipment and machinery in optimal operating condition. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of the state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory in De Soto, Kansas. The technician will work closely with both the Maintenance and Operations teams to foster a Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) environment, contributing to the company's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production equipment and machinery through preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines according to documented requirements.
  • Conduct visual and audible observations to detect machine abnormalities and address scheduled repairs.
  • Inspect and tighten bolts, and check belts and chains for wear and proper tension.
  • Change belts, filters, and other replaceable parts as needed.
  • Grease and lubricate fittings, joints, unions, and motors as required.
  • Perform complex cleaning activities on dismantled equipment and reassemble per OEM specifications.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on equipment and machinery to replace worn or broken parts.
  • Examine machine parts for wear and imperfections.
  • Perform electrical or mechanical troubleshooting on non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and measuring devices while performing duties.
  • Identify faulty operations and defective material and escalate concerns to supervisors.
  • Suggest and implement machine modifications to ensure production efficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work on equipment and machines.
  • Ensure accurate inventory of spare parts is kept.
  • Follow all Maintenance Process Instructions (MPI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Conduct initial multimeter readings and PLC Ladder logic readings.
  • Follow all safety procedures and conform to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Actively work toward the elimination of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas and tools.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge for standard calculations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of technical training or related work experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Two years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician or Skilled Machine Technician III preferred.
  • PLC experience preferred.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
