About the position

The Maintenance Technician III position at Mohawk Industries involves troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing environment. The role requires a strong understanding of PLCs, electrical energy generation, and process control instrumentation, with a focus on continuous improvement and productivity enhancement.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) using handheld devices or laptops.
• Design and redesign programs and software for PLCs and operator panels.
• Format hard drives and install software on computers.
• Install, maintain, or repair equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electrical energy.
• Locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems or equipment from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or specifications.
• Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.
• Utilize basic knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFDs, and process control instrumentation devices.
• Review respective areas for ideas to drive productivity and reduce costs, and communicate solutions for improvement.
• Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plans.
• Use a variety of electrician's tools including measuring and testing instruments.
• Inform supervisor of operational status of equipment and notify of any problem areas.

Requirements

• Experience with troubleshooting PLCs and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of electrical energy generation and distribution.
• Familiarity with process control instrumentation devices such as thermocouples and pressure switches.
• Basic understanding of servomotors and drive units.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with process improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Knowledge of serial port communication systems.
