About the position

The Maintenance Technician position at Van Dyk Park Place is a part-time and per diem role focused on performing routine and preventive maintenance across various building systems. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and safety of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems within the facility, while also providing excellent customer service to residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform all routine and preventive maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heat and A/C, carpentry, and other building and grounds operations for all Van Dyk properties.
• Coordinate and complete the turnover of empty apartments to ensure repairs or upgrades are completed in a timely manner.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
• Conduct regular maintenance of HVAC systems and perform minor repairs.
• Respond to emergency calls for building or rental houses maintenance issues and repairs as needed.
• Maintain a flexible schedule including after hours, holidays, weekends, on-call emergency, and as needed.
• Possess excellent customer service skills and be courteous and helpful to residents, tenants, families, guests, and staff members.
• Work well under time pressure, deadlines, and multitasking.
• Identify issues, determine repairs, and complete repairs that are needed.
• Minimize waste of supplies and misuse of equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance roles.
• Strong skills in building systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Experience in an Assisted Living/Health Care setting is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, tenants, staff, guests, and vendors.
• Excellent customer service skills.
