About the position

The Maintenance Technician (PT) position at North Central Texas College is a part-time role responsible for the maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds at the Bowie Campus. The technician will address emergency, urgent, and routine maintenance requests, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. This role includes regular inspections, litter cleanup, and care for indoor and outdoor plants, contributing to the overall upkeep and aesthetic of the campus.

Responsibilities

  • Tend to emergency, urgent, and routine maintenance requests by prioritizing emergencies and responding promptly.
  • Perform regular walk-through inspections of college buildings and campus grounds to identify maintenance needs.
  • Patrol for and clean up litter and debris on campus grounds.
  • Maintain and care for indoor plants, including watering, pruning, and monitoring conditions.
  • Plant and weed by preparing soil and applying proper planting techniques.
  • Conduct routine inspections and repairs, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with vendors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written communication
  • Ability to use clear and concise verbal communication
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Consistent physical strength and dexterity for typical tasks

Nice-to-haves

  • No prior experience required, but preferred experience is a plus.
