About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of apartment homes, buildings, and grounds. This role involves performing a variety of tasks including repairing flooring, drywall, and appliances, troubleshooting plumbing and electrical systems, and ensuring the overall aesthetic and safety of the property. The technician will also be on-call for emergency services and will assist in unit turnovers to prepare apartments for new residents.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the philosophies and wishes of the Owner in daily operations to meet Client objectives.
  • Adhere to the assigned maintenance program for the property.
  • Follow the preventative maintenance program as outlined in the Maintenance Manual.
  • Ensure grounds and property aesthetics comply with FPI Curb Appeal Policies.
  • Serve as on-call maintenance providing emergency services during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform maintenance inspections and repairs on vacant apartments.
  • Coordinate and assist in painting vacant apartments.
  • Change out appliances as necessary and ensure timely completion of unit turnovers.
  • Repair and maintain equipment owned by the apartment community.
  • Maintain maintenance shops and storage rooms in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Enforce community rules and regulations and comply with Fair Housing Laws.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within Residential Property Management.
  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate required; technical school and/or CAMT certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record and current motor vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and comply with FPI's facial hair policy.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, etc.).
  • May be required to provide and maintain own tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hotel maintenance, facilities maintenance, or construction.
  • Technical school certification in a related field.
