About the position

The Maintenance Technician at UPholdings is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and cleanliness of properties within the Chicagoland area. This role involves a variety of maintenance tasks, property upkeep, and resident assistance, contributing to the overall quality of affordable housing managed by the company.

Responsibilities

• Physically walk the property frequently to remove litter, debris, and pet droppings.
• Perform 'trash-out' duties at vacated apartments daily, removing abandoned furniture and trash.
• Transfer trash and items left outside dumpsters into dumpsters and keep the area clean.
• Clean and rake shrub areas and shovel mud when necessary.
• Use a blower to keep sidewalks and walking areas clean of loose grass and brush.
• Repair and replace windows, screens, and sliding glass doors.
• Perform routine maintenance as requested by the Manager and Superintendent.
• Assist with various physical tasks such as tearing down fences and carrying abandoned items.
• Help with apartment preparation duties when requested.
• Maintain and clean storage areas.
• Perform interior and exterior painting duties when requested.
• Complete minor and routine service requests as directed by the Manager or Superintendent.
• Change locks and make keys when directed.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Manager or Superintendent.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience in property management maintenance.
• Experience in general maintenance, carpentry, painting, light plumbing repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to lift more than 40 pounds, walk moderate distances, and climb flights of stairs.
