About the position

The Maintenance Technician position at Stayable in St. Augustine is a vital role that ensures guests receive safe, clean, and functioning accommodations. This full-time position requires a proactive and responsive individual who can handle various maintenance tasks and emergencies. The technician will work Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the expectation of being available for on-call emergencies during nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set, drawing from various trades to troubleshoot and resolve both persistent and one-off problems effectively. Successful Maintenance Technicians are team-oriented, resilient, creative, coachable, disciplined, reliable, attentive to detail, self-starters, and dedicated to their work. They will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, responding to service calls, and undertaking larger projects as needed. The role offers opportunities for advancement as the company continues to grow, and compensation starts at $20 per hour, with potential for overtime and bonuses based on performance and experience. In this role, the technician will be expected to maintain the property’s standards, ensuring that all areas are in good repair and that safety and cleanliness are prioritized. They will also be responsible for logging service calls, assisting colleagues, and performing various repairs and installations, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining the overall condition of the property and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergencies with a sense of urgency
  • Log before and after photos in the cloud/mobile ticketing system
  • Assist colleagues with heavy lifts and other team tasks
  • Repair drywall, texture, paint, and basic carpentry items
  • Install and remove appliances, TVs, and IT equipment
  • Make standard repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in standard hotel equipment and systems
  • Follow checklists and assignments to maintain and improve rooms and public spaces
  • Maintain the exterior of the building if not serviced by a contractor
  • Inspect rooms for unsafe or unsanitary conditions
  • Perform security tasks as needed to identify and address safety issues
  • Install and remove flooring, cabinetry, lighting and plumbing fixtures, smoke detectors, and furniture
  • Clean and service PTAC units
  • Replace batteries in door locks, smoke detectors, and IoT devices
  • Work outdoors for extended periods throughout the year on landscaping, fencing, parking lot, doors and windows, roofing, and other repairs and improvements
  • Proactively address safety and property condition issues immediately when identified
  • Work effectively in occupied and vacant rooms
  • Keep maintenance shop and punch cart clean and tidy
  • Ensure rooms and public spaces are in good repair, including walls, flooring, and FF&E
  • Maintain exceptional customer service when interacting with guests
  • Notify Property Manager of any safety concerns or any violations of policy
  • Implement new objectives and procedures
  • Contribute to incident reports as needed
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of maintenance supplies
  • Possess a certification in one or more trades with ambitions for continued growth
  • Execute all policies and procedures with fidelity
  • Report issues immediately to discuss and solve them quickly
  • Complete assigned tasks within the allotted time and communicate effectively if unable to meet the expected time and quality standards
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace with minimal interruption to guests
  • Raise issues or concerns about safety, cleanliness, or property damage immediately when recognized
  • Refer people for employment that live our values and contribute to our culture

  • Maintain strong attendance and time punch compliance
  • Align with supervisor by executing meeting cadence with fidelity

Requirements

  • Must be available for on-call emergencies at night and on weekends
  • Possess a certification in one or more trades
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and respond to service calls
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness
  • Ability to work effectively in both occupied and vacant rooms
  • Reliable transportation and own hand tools
