About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Brookfield Properties is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, including heating and air conditioning systems, at a multifamily property. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks, from general repairs to specialized functions, ensuring the property remains in excellent condition for residents.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery such as motors, pumps, belts, and fans.
• Repairs and maintains mechanical equipment, including heating and air conditioning, overseeing the operation of heating and hot water equipment, diagnosing problems, and performing necessary repairs.
• Performs routine to difficult carpentry duties, including installation of new doors and repairs of doorjambs, moldings, hinges, and locks.
• Performs routine to difficult painting duties, including drywall or plaster repair and painting.
• Performs routine to difficult plumbing duties, including inspecting, installing, repairing, and replacing pipes and plumbing fixtures, and unclogging sinks and toilets.
• Performs routine to difficult electrical and appliance duties, including inspecting and testing lighting, wiring, and power circuits, and replacing faulty components.
• Performs preventative maintenance duties and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-4 years of experience in commercial or multi-unit residential property maintenance required.
• Vocational training in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Appliance repair preferred.
• Associate Degree in General Studies preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• HVAC certification (depending on property) preferred.
• Valid driver's license (depending on property) preferred.
• Electrical certification preferred.
• Plumbing certification preferred.
