About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Redwood Communities is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks across various properties managed by the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that apartment units and common areas are well-maintained and ready for residents. The technician will work closely with the community manager to address maintenance requests and implement preventive maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities

• Receive and complete requests for maintenance in apartment units, common areas, or to the exterior of buildings.
• Perform repairs including interior and exterior painting, sheet rock repairs, electrical repairs, minor appliance repairs, plumbing, and moving furniture.
• Assist with pest control as needed.
• Work with the community manager to ensure vacant units are ready for re-rent.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance for equipment and systems.
• Understand the functions of fire control, water, and other building systems, and routinely observe these systems to ensure they are working properly.
• Conduct regular grounds maintenance to ensure a pleasant curb appeal.
• Complete interior and exterior janitorial duties.
• Purchase supplies, equipment, or services to meet routine maintenance needs.

Requirements

• Experience performing general maintenance tasks at multiple locations.
• Ability to work with a diverse population in a residential environment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Experience working with computers such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Understanding of custodial and maintenance manuals and ability to apply the concepts.
• Ability to assess maintenance emergencies and make judgments about appropriate immediate and longer-term responses.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle up to 20 feet.
• Ability to lift loads not normally exceeding 50 pounds.
