About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Aerotek is responsible for responding to repair requests for production machinery and building equipment across the facility. This role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, performing maintenance and repairs on various plant equipment, and ensuring that machinery operates efficiently. The technician will work with schematics and blueprints to execute tasks and will also be involved in preventive maintenance and equipment installations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to repair requests of production machinery and building equipment in all facility areas.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and make appropriate repairs to return machinery to a satisfactory running condition.
  • Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, and written or verbal instructions to perform assigned tasks.
  • Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and repairs to plant equipment such as bagging machines, conveyors, case erectors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.
  • Perform basic rebuilding of gearboxes, motors, and small pneumatic equipment.
  • Analyze existing problems and help provide innovative solutions.
  • Unload powdered and liquid raw materials from rail cars as needed.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant process and utility equipment, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspection.
  • Assist as needed on equipment installations and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
  • Experience in foods industry
  • PLC troubleshooting
  • Industrial electrical troubleshooting
  • Maintenance repair
  • Experience with conveyors, bagging machines, and packaging machinery
  • Knowledge of 3-phase motors, variable frequency drives, controls, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Must supply own hand tools, and be able to use power tools safely.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights including rooftops and silos, and lift 70 pounds safely.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Vocational training or AA/AS degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the A-B control platform is a plus.
  • Industrial maintenance experience is preferred; food industry experience or confections experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with vertical bagging and scale equipment is a plus.
