About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Thies & Talle Management is responsible for the maintenance and repair of apartments, common building systems, and grounds at an apartment community in Plymouth, MN. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, responding to emergency requests, and ensuring resident satisfaction through effective communication and timely repairs. The technician must be detail-oriented and possess skills in various maintenance areas, including appliance repair, plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance of all buildings on-site.
• Maintain the lawn and surrounding property, including mowing, trimming, and winterizing.
• Keep occupied units in good condition and make unoccupied units rent-ready.
• Perform snow and ice removal from sidewalks and common areas.
• Replace unit locks and maintain security of premises.
• Coordinate and oversee work of subcontractors as needed.
• Purchase approved supplies for maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions with building equipment.
• Assist in periodic unit inspections to identify repair needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma and 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance or related field.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to read and complete documentation required by regulatory agencies.
• Strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff.
• Mathematical skills for basic calculations related to maintenance tasks.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work independently.

• Formal maintenance-related training and certifications.
• State boiler's license or ability to obtain one upon employment.
