About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all equipment within the facility operates properly and safely. This role involves performing periodic and general maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing various systems, and maintaining a safe work environment. The technician will work independently to identify and resolve issues before they lead to equipment breakdowns, ensuring the smooth operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all equipment is operating properly and safely.
  • Perform periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility as assigned and according to schedule.
  • Conduct repairs or troubleshooting on electrical 3 phase motor controls, electronics, anhydrous ammonia refrigeration, or HVAC systems.
  • Perform building maintenance, including major overhauls of equipment and fabrication of parts.
  • Adjust and repair air conditioning and heating systems, including system design changes and calibration.
  • Perform daily inspections of doors, dock plates, banana rooms, and all other building and support areas.
  • Recognize problems and repairs before breakdown occurs.
  • Independently troubleshoot and repair problems using advanced skills, including electronic repair.
  • Repair racking as required.
  • Repair or replace batteries and chargers as needed.
  • Replace damaged lighting fixtures.
  • Repair ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain complete repair order records on the computer system.
  • Follow company procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years' experience in facility maintenance preferred.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Possess working knowledge of electrical lift trucks, ammonia refrigeration systems, and warehouse building systems and repairs.
  • Ability to operate work-related equipment such as maintenance-related power equipment and hand tools, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Ability to learn and follow company and distribution center policies regarding safe operation of forklifts and pallet jacks, maintenance-related power equipment, and hand tools.
  • Ability to learn and follow distribution center paperwork policies and procedures encompassing Purchase Orders, Parts Requisitions, and Inventory and Maintenance Orders.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all labeling on hazardous materials and equipment in the facility.
