About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Schupan & Sons Inc. is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding all plant equipment. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and equipment within the facility, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the plant. The technician will work closely with supervisors to modify and improve equipment functionality, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild equipment including balers, conveyors, shredders, and grinders.
  • Repair and maintain equipment related to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems using methods such as welding, fabricating, torching, and painting.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to design, modify, or change equipment for specific functions.
  • Perform Monthly Preventative Maintenance in accordance with ISO quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Use required PPE and comply with lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Conduct general and scheduled maintenance on all equipment within the plant.
  • Wash down equipment and clean out balers, chambers, and hoppers.
  • Inventory and track all parts for in-house equipment.
  • Read and compose simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Train others as needed and perform other assigned duties.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and interact respectfully with coworkers and the public.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical education or training beyond high school preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience required.
  • Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic background required.
  • Welding and torching experience required.
  • Knowledge of recycling equipment preferred.
  • Experience with PLC and robotics is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of recycling equipment helpful.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and robotics.
