About the position

Peabody Properties seeks an experienced Maintenance Technician to join its team of property management professionals at an apartment community in Roxbury, MA. The Maintenance Technician's role requires effective and careful evaluation in response to a broad range of maintenance needs to assist the Service Manager with the efficient operation of the property. This position is crucial for ensuring that the apartment community remains in excellent condition and that residents have a safe and comfortable living environment. The technician will be responsible for performing routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance tasks, which include but are not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, locks and keys, basic carpentry, painting and drywall repair, janitorial duties, grounds maintenance, and snow removal. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the building's common areas and other assigned areas, ensuring that the exterior grounds meet company standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities maintenance, with at least three years of related job experience. They must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English. The role requires a self-starter who can take initiative and respond promptly to maintenance issues. Additionally, the technician will be required to provide on-call coverage for emergencies after hours, on weekends, and during holidays. A reliable vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position, as the technician may need to travel between different properties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Service Manager with the efficient operation of the property.
  • Conduct electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs.
  • Repair appliances and manage locks and keys.
  • Perform basic carpentry and painting/drywall repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas and assigned spaces.
  • Manage janitorial duties and grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
  • Respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide on-call coverage for emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the facilities maintenance field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Reliable vehicle needed to perform essential duties.
