About the position

The Maintenance Technician at the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is responsible for conducting routine, preventative, and emergency repairs across various properties. This role serves as a field representative of the maintenance department, ensuring high standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service. The technician will perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and general handyman duties, while also coordinating with property managers and supervising subcontractors for larger projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine, preventative, and emergency repairs on properties.
  • Perform inspections, carpentry, drywall repair, interior and exterior painting, electrical work, appliance troubleshooting, plumbing work, and general handyman duties.
  • Maintain all mechanical equipment and property grounds in good condition.
  • Assist the development department with punch lists, due diligence, and warranty work.
  • Coordinate bids on large projects and supervise subcontractors as needed.
  • Evaluate properties for proactive maintenance needs and communicate with property managers.
  • Order supplies and equipment within the maintenance budget.
  • Utilize online software for timecard submissions and reporting.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in building maintenance including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledgeable in repairs of doors, walls, floors, plumbing, light fixtures, appliances, and locks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Google Docs/Sheets, and company email at an intermediate level.
  • Regular access to a vehicle and general maintenance tools.
  • Must pass criminal background checks and drug screening test.
