About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Orchard Farm School District is responsible for the upkeep and repair of district facilities, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, general labor, and seasonal grounds work. The technician will work closely with the Director of Operations and be part of a collaborative team dedicated to maintaining a safe and functional environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Conduct minor electrical, plumbing, and facility repairs.
  • Handle materials and supplies, move equipment, and operate power-driven equipment.
  • Drive district vehicles and equipment, including mowers.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds work such as snow, ice, and leaf removal, as well as lawn care.
  • Maintain facilities in accordance with state and local safety and code requirements.
  • Replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and ballasts.
  • Check freezers, boilers, HVAC, and water systems for proper operation.
  • Assist with athletic field setup and maintenance.
  • Assist with facility setups and mail delivery to all facilities.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance.
  • General maintenance background.
  • Valid Driver License required.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools regularly.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and maintain an orderly workspace.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication and problem solve.
