About the position

As a Maintenance Technician at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This position involves performing general maintenance and repairs across various areas and equipment within the hospital. Your responsibilities will include minor plumbing, electrical work, basic carpentry, painting, heating and cooling tasks, and other essential building systems maintenance. We are looking for candidates who are well-versed in hospital maintenance procedures and have a solid understanding of the use of basic hand and power tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, along with excellent communication and organizational abilities. In this role, you will be expected to work overtime, including weekends and public holidays, as needed. You will be responsible for assessing the needs for repair and maintenance of the building and its components, conducting periodic quality checks, and implementing preventative maintenance procedures. You will also maintain open lines of communication with various departments to ensure that maintenance requests are addressed promptly and efficiently. Your ability to manage both labor and materials wisely will be essential in maintaining the facility's operational standards. Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned facilities, areas, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues effectively.
  • Complete minor building component repairs, including doors, locks, and walls.
  • Conduct minor electrical repairs such as bulb replacements and ballast swaps.
  • Handle minor plumbing tasks, including fixing leaks and unclogging drains.
  • Perform basic HVAC tasks, including preventative maintenance and filter replacements.
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas through sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
  • Assess needs for repair and maintenance through surveys and customer requests.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on building systems and components.
  • Implement preventative maintenance procedures as assigned in the CMMS system.
  • Respond promptly to corrective work requests logged in the CMMS system.
  • Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies as required.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization regarding maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalency required.
  • 3 years of relevant maintenance work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certificate in a building trade, building maintenance technology, or relevant field preferred.
  • Valid Maintenance Electrician License or greater.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures and use of basic hand and power tools.
