Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and safely operate power equipment.
  • Assist in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks, including preventative maintenance and construction projects.
  • Perform HVAC preventive maintenance, including filter replacements and scheduling.
  • Assist in construction and facilities-related maintenance and installation projects.
  • Diagnose and repair all light fixtures on campus.
  • Document all daily work performed, including maintenance operation reports and work order requests.
  • Assist with moving heavy equipment and office furniture.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of university tools and equipment.
  • Follow safe work practices and policies.
  • Complete mandatory training and participate in professional development days.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One or more years' experience in general trades maintenance related to facilities or a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of interior building construction.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to perform general maintenance repairs associated with construction, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledgeable with voltage meters, airflow, pressure, and other common capacity testing devices.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to assist with carpentry-related repairs and installations.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
