About the position

The Maintenance Technician at the Oxford Housing Authority is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of properties. This full-time position requires a hands-on approach to both interior and exterior maintenance, including plumbing, electrical work, and landscaping. The technician will work closely with tenants and coworkers, maintaining a professional demeanor while addressing maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform exterior and interior maintenance of properties.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Handle and fix electrical issues as needed.
• Paint ceilings and walls as required.
• Clean appliances and maintain cleanliness in community areas.
• Remove carpets and tack strips, and replace or clean VCT tile.
• Access and repair plumbing issues including faucet changes and clogs.
• Replace counter and deck boards as necessary.
• Operate lawn mowers and perform landscaping tasks including trimming hedges and snow removal.
• Sweep floors and clean bathrooms using appropriate chemicals.
• Interact respectfully with tenants and coworkers.
• Follow directions from the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Rotate on-call duties every third week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred in a related field.
• 1 year of maintenance experience required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must pass a wellness physical, including drug/alcohol screening and CORI check.
• Valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License required.
