About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining safe and sanitized conditions in agency buildings and equipment, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory guidelines. This role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining facilities, operating maintenance equipment, and participating in team operations. The technician will also be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, while adhering to professional and ethical standards of conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
  • Maintain safe and sanitized conditions in agency buildings and equipment that meet or exceed all licensing and policy requirements.
  • Operate maintenance equipment and report any malfunctioning equipment immediately.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed and as requested by the supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the child and program operations.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain buildings and equipment in accordance with agency policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to supervisory staff and suggest possible solutions to hazards.
  • Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and federal partners.
  • Frequently traverse from one area of the campus to another.
  • Frequently move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds from one area of the campus to another.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in janitorial or maintenance and knowledge of chemicals and reactions, and safe and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment required.
  • First aid, CPR, and Emergency behavior intervention certifications required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and current equipment used to carry out maintenance duties.
  • Achieve impeccable standards of cleanliness in work outcomes.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret policy manuals and documents.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Organize and plan work.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
