This position is crucial for maintaining the college's property to ensure a safe and functional work environment for staff and faculty. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of campus buildings, as well as minor equipment repairs. This role requires a self-directed individual who can work with minimal supervision and is capable of identifying and completing tasks independently. Flexibility in work hours is essential, as the technician may need to respond to emergency situations during weekends, after hours, and on holidays. Coordination with student housing services may also be necessary, depending on the situation. The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of tasks, including both minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment. This includes operating equipment safely, replacing broken windows, repairing doors, locks, and closets, and installing window blinds. A general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry is required, along with the ability to repair and maintain various types of equipment. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining records of scheduled maintenance performed and may need to perform seasonal duties such as snow removal, which can involve working in extreme weather conditions. Additionally, the technician may be required to obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts, order parts as needed, and perform drywall hanging, taping, texturing, and painting tasks both inside and outside of buildings. Maintaining a safe and clean property is a key responsibility, and the technician will be expected to identify maintenance, repair, and improvement needs, completing tasks or recommending appropriate actions as necessary.
