About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Westland Real Estate Group is responsible for performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on properties, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. This role involves general cleaning and minor maintenance duties to ensure that apartments, buildings, and community spaces are maintained in a clean, orderly, and functional condition. The technician will also assist staff and visitors as necessary, contributing to the overall upkeep and safety of the properties managed by the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repair of all equipment and throughout the property.
• Guide and assist Maintenance Tech I.
• Inform Supervisor of recurring problems.
• Recommend preventative maintenance plans to Supervisor.
• Perform preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures.
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance such as replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets.
• Install and perform minor repairs on household appliances like stoves and refrigerators.
• Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
• Prepare surfaces and paint various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, and other work areas.
• Inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and grease bearings.
• Repair broken windows, doors, and install window blinds.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1+ years of prior experience in maintenance occupation.
• Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license.
• Own and maintain an operable smartphone.

Nice-to-haves

• Certificate in plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, or other technical studies preferred.
