About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on equipment and related plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components within the facility. This role ensures compliance with quality and safety standards set by Balchem and requires effective communication and documentation skills. The technician will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and is expected to maintain a clean and orderly work environment while adhering to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on equipment and related components.
  • Understand and operate equipment according to safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Record and maintain accurate data on necessary documents.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and timely, including time cards.
  • Maintain compliance with company documentation standards.
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks to keep a neat and orderly work setting.
  • Complete the Master Sanitation Schedule as necessary.
  • Observe safety and security procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Attend all company-sponsored training events for personal growth and development.
  • Maintain a flexible attitude towards improvement and change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or College Degree in Industrial Maintenance and Mechanics preferred.
  • Two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (both orally and written).
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to utilize common sense and skills in completing responsibilities and operating equipment according to company procedures.
  • Knowledge of PLC is a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operation manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Demonstration of strong work ethics (punctual, dependable, and trustworthy).
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in small group situations.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Building maintenance skills such as concrete repair, plumbing, and HVAC experience are helpful.
  • Possession of a Minnesota class 2B boilers license is required to be obtained within 18 months of hire.

  • Experience with industrial machinery operation.
  • Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures.
