About the position

The Maintenance Technician at General Mills in Kansas City, MO, is responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment. This role involves providing technical support to optimize manufacturing operations and processes, ensuring the efficient functioning of machinery in a 24/7 plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools, and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems of all plant equipment, including mechanical drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems of plant and packaging/processing equipment, such as wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, and motors.
• Perform both uptime and downtime preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance platform performance.
• Assist in training new employees.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance or related industry experience.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical motors, gearbox and components.
• Experience in repairing and troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems, reading schematics, and using electrical testing equipment.
• Basic shop equipment experience (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc.) preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
