The Maintenance Technician at Gadsden Correctional Facility is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of various systems within the facility. This includes performing repairs and maintenance on structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, as well as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The technician must adhere to the standards set by the American Correctional Association (ACA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC), and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS). The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all systems are operational and compliant with safety regulations. In this position, the technician will be tasked with diagnosing issues, recommending contracted assistance when necessary, and executing repairs on faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses. Additionally, the technician will perform minor construction tasks, such as repairing structural woodwork and installing window shades or security locks. The role also involves plumbing work, including the repair or replacement of fixtures and seals, as well as preparing surfaces for painting and other finishing tasks. A key aspect of the job is directing inmates assigned to the maintenance department, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
