About the position

Peabody Properties seeks an experienced Maintenance Technician to join its team of property management professionals at apartment communities in Middleboro, MA. The Maintenance Technician's role requires effective and careful evaluation in response to a broad range of maintenance needs to assist the Service Manager with the efficient operation of the property. This position is crucial for ensuring that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and comfortable living environment for residents. The technician will be responsible for performing routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance tasks across various systems and areas within the property. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, locks and keys, basic carpentry, painting and drywall repair, janitorial duties, grounds maintenance, and snow removal. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the building's common areas and other assigned areas, ensuring that the exterior grounds are kept according to company standards. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, with the ability to respond to and remedy maintenance issues in a timely manner, especially during emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have prior experience in the facilities maintenance field, with a minimum of 3 years of related job experience. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with solid computer skills and excellent customer service abilities. The technician must be a self-starter, capable of taking initiative, and must have a reliable vehicle to perform essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Service Manager with the efficient operation of the property.
  • Conduct electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs.
  • Repair appliances and manage locks and keys.
  • Perform basic carpentry and painting/drywall repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas and assigned spaces.
  • Manage janitorial duties and grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
  • Respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner, especially during emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • On-call availability for emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable vehicle needed for performing essential duties.
